A bit of extra trivia: Oliver Strimpel was the initial director of development at Zoesis (an AI-based interactive character startup founded by Joe Bates and crew from the Oz Project).

This echoes a story I recently heard in France, that an early story generator produced by Jean-Pierre Balpe, which a French library had agreed to archive, remained only in the printed transcriptions of interactions that users had with it. The library charged with preserving it only realized that the printouts were worth preserving, and not the story itself.
